Last rites for Claud Kimberling, 82, were held at Sheets and Son funeral home Feb. 19, 1973, with Dr. Alvin Desterhaft officiating. Pallbearers were Elmer Cruse, Clarence Kern, Carl Frederick, Hans Freese, Dick Thomson and Harold Heick. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist. Mr. Kimberling died following a heart attack February 16, 1973. He was walking east of the court house when he became dizzy and fell. Deputy Sheriff Ron Stein and Carroll Last of the County Engineer's Office went to help him and when he complained of shortness of breath, they brought him into the court house where he collapsed. The Tipton ambulance was called.

The son of William H. and Catherine Williams Kimberling, he was born at Point Pleasant, WV, March 4, 1890 and was educated in the rural schools of Mason Co., WV. He was married to Sarah K. Harper Geho at Marion September 5, 1911 and after her death to Beulah Rowe at Marion March 19, 1928. A retired farmer, he had been a resident of Cedar County since 1910 and lived in Tipton area since 1947. He was a Presbyterian and a past member of the Moose Lodge in Tipton.

He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, Vernon Kimberling, Mechaniscville; and Jacob Rowe, Des Moines; 3 daughters, Mrs. Francis (Virginia) Ruzek, West Branch; Mrs. Katherine Walton, Mountain View, CA.; and Mrs. Roland (Shirley) Thomson, Iowa City; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, 4 brothers and 7 sisters.
