Carlton Talmadge Williams, Sr.

Carlton Talmadge Williams, Sr., age 78, of Tom Goddard Rd., Jackson, GA died Monday morning, October 15, 2012 at Spalding Regional Medical Center in Griffin. He was a native of Monroe County, GA, born September 20, 1934 to Dan Fremont Williams and Susie Mae Lunsford Williams. He was a 1952 graduate of Mary Persons High School and remained a "Bulldog" all his life.

Carlton had a distinguished military career spanning almost three decades. He was in the Georgia Army National Guard where he received many honors before and at his retirement. He was a Chief Warrant Officer II and was an aircraft mechanic. He especially loved the Mohawk OV1.

He had many interests and hobbies following his retirement including making unusual walking sticks, old tractors and trucks and gardening, but his main interest was his love and affection for his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and the St. Johns Lodge # 45 of Masons.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie Ruth Harris Williams, children, Debbie and Andy Craig, Susan and Ted Strickland, Lee and Richard Williams, Becky and Joey Jackson and Eve Allen. He was preceded in death by two sons, Carlton T. Williams, Jr. (Bubba) and Tim Williams.

Carlton is also survived by his grandchildren, Josh Craig, Niki Hill, Kelly Raney, Seth Strickland, Will Strickland, Jessica Williams, Jared Williams, Hunter Williams, Jay Sanders, Jr., Charidy Williams, Reagan Jackson, Sydney Jackson and Troy Allen; great grandchildren, Hannah Hill, Kaleb Hill, Weston Raney, Ali Raney, Mark Kokoska, Jr., Gerrica Kokoska; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Russell Williams, Gordon Williams, Walter Williams, Ruth Smith and Mayree Tingle.
