Earl Jones was born in Roganville, Jasper County, Texas on June 13, 1917, to parents David Andrew and Iola Hawthorne Jones. He passed away at age 95 at a hospital in The Woodlands, Texas on January 19, 2013.

He lived most of his adult life in Beaumont and worked in the shipyard with his brothers before joining the U. S. Air Force during World War II.

He married Dorothy Mildren Gibbs and they were the parents of two children, Jerry Michael Jones and Sandra Kaye Jones.

He retired from First City National Bank of Beaumont in 1981, after 35 years of service. Earl belonged to Tolerance Lodge No. 1165 with over 50 years was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason.

At the age of 86, Earl wrote his autobiography entitled "My Life's Journey" which has been enjoyed by his family and friends.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mildred and son Jerry; his brothers, Tim, Mack, George, John D., Hob and Virgil; his sisters Vivian, Jessie Lee, Avril (A.V.) and Etta.

He is survived by his daughter Kaye Jones,of Houston, grandchildren Jeremy and Kelli Fischer of Alabama, sister Verba Lee Jones Turner and brother-in-law Walter Herbert Turner of Nederland and many nieces, nephews and friends.
