Emma was the fourth child of Jacob Cleveland Basinger and Nancy Elizabeth Allman. She was born in Rogers, Arkansas. Her parents moved to the Rankin/Byrd area of Ellis County between 1910 and 1915. Emma was married twice. She married first on June 10, 1917 to William Taylor Wolverton. They had the following children:

1) Corrine (b. 1918)
2) Edith Isabelle (b. 1920)
3) Betty June (b. 1931)

Taylor died of a ruptured appendix in June 1931 prior to the birth of Betty June. He was buried in Elm Branch, Cemetery near Bardwell.

Emma then married William S. Baisden of Rankin between 1931 and 1835. He was 13 years her senior and had already raised five children by his first wife Lilly B. Kelly. In 1940 William, Emma and 8 year old Betty June were living in Nacogdoches, Texas where he worked for the WPA.

About 1944, William and Emma moved to #1 Nonesuch Lane in Dallas where they lived on the Neiman Marcus Estate and William worked as a gardner and caretaker. After Emma died in 1956, William moved to Killeen where he lived with his son W.J. and Bonnie Baisden.
