Todd, a loving husband and father, was routinely driving his motorcycle to work at Frito-Lay on Ga. 247 just before dawn on Aug. 7, 1997 where he was less than a hundred yards from the entrance to the plant when a pickup truck pulled out in front of him. He tried to stop his motorcycle, instinctively pulling back and falling off, but as the motorcycle slammed into the side of the truck behind the driver's door, Todd, who was wearing a helmet, skidded across the pavement. If the motorist who caused the accident had stopped when he felt the bike slam into his truck, he would have walked away with minor injuries. But the driver took off and moments later a delivery truck came along in the early morning gloom, swerved to avoid the bike lying in the roadway and inadvertently ran over Todd. In the flash of a moment, the life of the fun-loving son who shared his father's birthday was snuffed out. Todd was the kind of kid who loved everybody, and everybody just loved him," his mom says, recalling with fondness some of the harmless hijinks the youngster got into, including good-natured tussles with his younger brother, Travis. "He was always smiling and loved to make people laugh."

Todd graduated from Houston County High in 1994 and went to work at Frito-Lay. He and his wife, Katie, had a 2-year-old daughter. Todd's parents, Jerry and Kay Stewart, and their daughter-in-law Katie, haven't given up hope that Todd's killer will eventually be caught and brought to justice. Although the individual has been identified by the FBI, he is still at large.
