Carlene Hill Edwards, 81, a resident of High Point, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013.
She was born on October 17, 1931, in Guilford County, NC, to the late Robert Hill and Sarah Weaver Hill. She worked for Dr. Charles Surles for 31 years, and retired in 1994. She was a member of Oak View Baptist Church, where she was a member of the church choir, and helped keep the nursery. Carlene enjoyed cross stitching, and caring for her family and friends. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband of 49 years, Charles David Edwards, 2 sisters, Gladys Parrish and Wilma Loflin, 4 brothers, J.W. Hill, Johnny Hill, Ted Hill and LeRoy Hill.
She is survived by her son; Philip Edwards his wife Linda of Clayton, NC, her grandchildren; Brooke Edwards of Greenville, NC, Blake Edwards of Raleigh and Drew Edwards of Clayton. Also surviving are a number of special nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Carlene's life will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, January 21, 2013, at Oak View Baptist Church, with Pastor Don Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Deep River Friends Meeting Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM at the church.
