Mr. King, a resident of Daphne, Alabama was born in Tallahassee, Florida on June 8, 1936. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Marvin King Jr. and Virginia Hutcheson King. He grew up in Atmore, Alabama and attended Auburn University, graduating in 1958. After serving in the Air National Guard, he served as a national advisor for his college fraternity, Tau Kappa Epsilon. Marvin returned to Atmore to work at the Atmore Equipment Company, an International Harvester with his father. Years later, Marvin assumed ownership of the King Pontiac Buick automobile dealership from which he later retired. In 1990, he moved to Daphne and was a member of Eastern Shore Baptist Church.
Mr. King was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Stallworth King. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, love of travel, and kindness to others.
Funeral service will be held Monday, January 21, 2013 at 11 AM from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel in Atmore, AL. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eastern Shore Baptist Church Missions, P.O. Box 128, Daphne, Alabama.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
