Warren K. Garrison, 97, of Williamsport, died at 4:20 p.m. CST on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at the VA Illiana Health Care System, Palliative Care, in Danville.

He was born on Jan. 12, 1916 in Steuben Township to John P. and Beatrice Stephens Garrison. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Ellen Peaveler, Bernice Salts, Rose Allen and Virginia Arthur; one brother, Richard Garrison and one daughter, infant Theresa Ann Garrison.

He married Fay LaVone Jordan on Jan. 15, 1944. She survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Vera (Terry) Wooster; one grandson, Keir Wooster; two great-grandchildren, Forrest Leigh and Samantha Wooster and several nieces and nephews.

He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Oklahoma as a gunners mate. He then served aboard the USS Thomas Jefferson attaining the rank of chief gunners mate. He was there during the invasion of Europe, Italy, North Africa, Okinawa, Japan, and at the end was in Sasebo, Japan.
