Ricky was born January 8, 1960 in Houston, Texas to Audrey (Cheatom) and Robby Hefner, Sr., and died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

Rick resided in Hudson most of his life. He had been the Administrative Manager of the African Division of Noble Drilling for eight years. He was a member of the Falvey Memorial United Methodist Church. Our loss is Heaven's gain. Our Ricky went to sleep in Nigeria and woke up in the arms of God. Oh, how we will miss him.

He brought joy and laughter into every life he touched. If you knew him, you loved him, and he loved you. His Haley was the light of his life. He loved her so much. He loved his Mom and Dad, his brother, and his sisters with an everlasting love. "Uncle Ricky" adored his nieces and nephews and loved doing things with them, especially riding roller coasters, shooting fireworks, and playing guitars. He loved to travel and went all over the world. He loved to hunt, fish play golf, and travel to Nascar races. He loved guns and guitars. He had a heart as big as Texas and giving was as natural to him as breathing. He gave to family, friends, and strangers.

Special friends who he loved like brothers were Joey Parker, Brandon Stephens, Wade Jabbour and Scotty Smith. Sayonara my Blue Bird Ricky, until we meet again.

Survivors include his daughter, Haley Addison Hefner and fiance' Bryce Miller of Austin; parents, Audrey and Robby Hefner, Sr. of Wells; brother and sister-in-law, Robby, Jr. and Laurie Hefner of Lufkin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rhonda and Tim Smith of Hudson and Regina and Jeff Nicks of San Antonio; nieces and nephews, Natalie Hefner, Tim Coy Smith and Trista, Hannah Smith, Jessi Smith, Wesley Bridwell and wife Krystal, and Rachel Nicks; aunt and uncle, Sue and Charles Giammalva of Houston; and cousins, Frances Willard, Vincent Giammalva, Charlie Giammalva, and their families.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jesse and Mildred Hefner, Minnie Cheatom and Vernon Cheatom.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home. Carroway Funeral Home, Lufkin, directors.
