Mrs. Hazel Stamey Hoover Leonard, 84, a resident of Carolina House and formerly of Highway 47, died Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the nursing home. She was born in Burke County, July 31, 1928 a daughter of George Stamey and Laura Baker Stamey and had been a resident of Davidson County most of her life. She was a member of Park Place Baptist Church and had retired from Thomasville Furniture Industries, Plant L. After her retirement she served as a volunteer with Meals On Wheels. On July 10, 1948 she was married to Willie Lee Hoover who died December 17, 1997. In 2001 she was married to James Leonard who also preceded her in death. Surviving is a daughter, Donna Snyder and her husband Rick of Thomasville; two sons, Raymond Hoover and his wife Kathy of Thomasville and Joel Hoover and his wife Lisa of Denton; two grandchildren, Brad Hoover and his wife Brandy and Joey Hoover and his wife Tina. Also surviving are four step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3 PM at J.C. Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville by the Rev. Mark Sink. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Thomasville. The family will be at the funeral home Saturday from 6 until 8 PM.
