Emma, 85 of Hartland, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Bryan and the late Edna (McClain) Bowles.

A Hartland resident since 1946, Emma enjoyed traveling and had been a charter member of the GM Roving Rounders Trailer Club. Other joys included cross stitching, knitting, crocheting, watching and feeding the birds. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Beloved wife of the late Gerald L. Burgess (12/16/2007) whom she had married in Linden on June 16, 1946. Loving mother of Joe (Pat) Burgess of Fenton, Sue (Don) Cornell of Howell and Mike (Carol) Burgess of Fenton. Proud and adoring grandmother of nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers.

Emma was a long time member of the Hartland United Methodist Church, Hartland, where funeral services were held Wednesday.
