Anne Elizabeth McCaslan, daughter of Moses Oliver McCaslan and the former Susannah Clark Foster, was born in Abbeville County, South Carolina on the 22nd day of June 1831. Both of her parents were from old established families in the area.

On Jnauary 3rd 1854, Anne married James Hervey Morris, son of Samuel and Mary McM. Morris of Cedar Springs. Anne and James had four children:
Rev. Samuel Leslie Morris (1854 – 1937)
Oliver Clark Morris (1856 – 1859)
Robert Foster Morris (1860 – 1932)
Fannie Agnes Morris (1862 – 1870)

During the Civil War, James Morris served with the 5th Regiment, South Carolina Calvary, part of Hampton's Legion and was wounded at the Battle of Trevilion Station in Louisa County, Virginia. James died days later on June 29th 1864 in Charlottesville; leaving Anne a widow at the age of 33 with three children. James remains were returned to Abbeville and buried in the family cemetery.

Anne, like her husband James, believed in education and made sure that her children received the best available. Her eldest son, Samuel became a Presbyterian minister and Robert became very successful in the oil & mercantile business.

Anne Elizabeth McCaslan Morris live with her surviving sons in Georgia and departed this life on June 22, 1922 at the age of 90. She was laid to rest in the family vault Mausoleum at Crestlawn Cemetery.
