Charles F. (Red) Maner

Charles F. (Red) Maner , age 92, of Rome passed away peacefully on November 30, 2012 at his residence.

Mr. Maner was born September 24, 1920 in Everett Springs, GA son of John and Cora Maynor Maner. He moved to Rome as a young boy in the 1930's. Mr. Maner was raised in the Baptist faith and believed in the Holy Bible. Mr. Maner retired from Atlanta Gas Light Company in Rome in 1984. He served 28 years as a dispatcher and loved the time he spent with the Gas company and his co workers.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, the former Dorothy N. Quillian Maner of Ellijay on November 14, 2002. She was better known as Dot to her friends and neighbors. Two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Bettie) Beard of Rome and Mrs. Lincoln (Belle) Duncan of Chattanooga; Five brothers Frank, Louie, Millard (Little Red) Max L. (Big Red) and Herschell Maner. Mr. Maner and his son loved to restore old cars and trucks, fishing, gardening, raising bob white quail, baseball, and football. He was an avid animal lover and enjoyed feeding his cardinals and doves every day.

He is survived by one son Charles A. (Chuck) Maner of Rome; two sister in laws Mary Quillian Hernendez of Ellijay and Evelyne Lovelace Maner of Rome.

Graveside funeral and interment services will be conducted at 3:30 Monday at East View Cemetery with Reverend Petrey Greene officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 PM Monday at Parnick Jennings Sr.'s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Avenue Rome.
