Garland Kiser, Ex-Teacher, Victim of Heart Attack On Thursday

Augustus Garland Kiser, 70 year old retired school teacher and farmer of Kentuck died at the St. Francis hospital in Charleston at six o'clock Thursday evening of a heart attack which he suffered at his home the previous Sunday and from which he never rallied.

His condition had been considered critical since he was taken to the hospital in a Parsons ambulance after he suffered the attack and members of his family had been fearful that he would not recover.

He was a native of Kentuck where he was born on January 24, 1886, a son of Henry Beecher and Margaret Skeen Kiser and had spent his entire life in the community.

On July 20, 1912 he married Miss Della Ferrell, who with the following survive: two sons, Thomas Luther Kiser of Wilmington, Delaware and Harry C. Kiser of Charleston; two daughters, Mrs. Phoebe Jones of Wilmington, Delaware and Mrs. Geraldine Parsons of Dunbar; one brother, E.G. Kiser of Dunbar; 3 sisters, Mrs. Cora Dernberger and Mrs. Mary Jane Skeen, both of Ripley and Mrs. Margie Hunt of Letart Falls, Ohio and 5 grandchildren.

The funeral service was held from the Goshen Baptist church at Kentuck on Saturday afternoon with Rev. Vairl Winter officiating and burial with the Vail undertakers in charge was in the church cemetery.
