Mr. Chalker, a native of Glascock County, was employed by the Georgia Forestry Commission for 29 years in Glascock and Jefferson Counties before retiring. He was a member of the Glascock County Jaycees and attended Fellowship Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, B.A. Chalker and two sisters, Edna Bowen and Margaret Thompson.
The funeral was Feb. 3 at 3 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church wit the Revs. Carter Hudson and Bill Seaman officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Tannie Jo Chalker; three daughters, Wanda (Ronny) Wood, Gibson, Sherri (Sean) Epps, Thomson, and Tanya (Ron) Martin, Harlem; two brothers, Calvin Chalker, Gibson, and Don Chalker, Lincolnton; one sister, Ruth Reese, Martinez; and five grandchildren, Bobby and Jerry Wood, Haley and Casey Epps and Jared Martin.
