Imogene (Jean) Brown Lawrence of Marianna, FL passed away on October 8, 2016, at Jackson Hospital following a short illness.
Jean was born in Dothan, Alabama on April 10, 1927. She married Roy Brown on October 3, 1942 in Chipley, Florida. Jean was well known for her many years working at Thrift’s Department Store and Sunland. In her earlier years, Jean loved to crochet afghans for friends and family. She also loved cooking and sewing for loved ones.
Following the death of Roy, she married George Richard Lawrence in 1989. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ben Dudley, and grandson, Jeffery Tyler.
She is survived by her husband, George Richard Lawrence and three children: Jim Brown, Wayne Brown (Sherry), and Eugenia Lawrence (Richard). Step-children: June Mays (Larry) and Kay Tyler (Philip). Jean is also survived by eight grandchildren: Amanda Grimes, Michael Brown, Charles Eubanks, John Tyler, LeAnn Lett, Amy Anderson, Jared Tyler, Jesse Lawrence, and 12 great-grandchildren, and a sister Sue Grantham (John).
Funeral services will be Monday, October 10, 2016 at 10 a.m. from the Eastside Baptist Church in Marianna with Pastor John Rollyson & Dr. Nathan Attwood officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, October 9, at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel in Marianna.
