KERR, DORIS JEAN - with great sadness, the family regrets to announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother & Great-grandmother on Sept. 9th at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, a few weeks after celebrating her 85th birthday.

Doris was born Aug. 18, 1919 to Howard & Ellen Kerr and was raised in Arcola, SK. In 1942 she married a dashing young Air Force man, Garth Kerr (no relative) of Lang, SK. During the war years they were posted to Vancouver & New Westminster, BC.

They returned to the family farm in 1945 where they farmed successfully for over 50 years. In 2002, Garth passed away two weeks after they celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Doris and Garth cherished their life together with their family, their many life long friends & their community of Lang. They wintered for many years in Mesa, Arizona where Doris discovered her talent for oil painting.

She created many beautiful works of art which are cherished by the family. Doris was very active in the Lang community where she was a member of several organizations and as worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Doris also had an interest in gardening, knitting, craftwork and playing bridge.

She was predeceased by husband Garth, parents, Howard and Ellen Kerr, brothers Bob and Russell, sisters Ethel Wright and Audrey Gordon, and brother-in-law George Wright. She is survived by her son Gary (Shirley) of Saskatoon; daughters Terry (Greg) Thomas of Regina and Cathy (Bruce) Phillips of Victoria; grandchildren, Jason (Jennifer) Kerr, Heather (Zachary) Landine, all of Saskatoon, Zella Phillips (Chris) of Toronto and Colin (Sandee) Phillips of Ottawa; great grandchildren Danielle and Cameron Kerr of Saskatoon, brothers Alan (Marg) Kerr of Sidney, BC, Ron (Pat) Kerr of Edmonton and sister Betty (Ross) Davis of Ault, Colorado.

Also left to mourn are sisters-in-law Ivy Kerr of Yellow Grass, Mabel Kerr of Sidney, BC and Lois Kerr of Regina, brother-in-law Don Gordon of Calgary, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Service will be held at Lang Community Hall on September 11 at 2:00 p.m., with interment to follow at Lang Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Special thanks to the staff of Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home in Regina, Circle Drive Special Care Home in Saskatoon and the staff on Ward 6300 at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon for the loving care and respect given to Doris while in their care. Condolences may be sent to Arrangements entrusted to SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME, 244-5577.
