Mrs. Lois Balty

Mrs. Lois Balty, 62, of Inwood, W.Va., went home to be with her Lord on Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Gary Balty, her husband of 23 years.

Born June 22, 1948, in Altoona, Pa., she was the daughter of Marian Chamberlin of Brunswick and the late Herman Claar. Lois was the first female bus driver employed by TransIT, the Frederick County bus service. She worked for many years as operations manager, retiring in 2008. Lois was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church in Knoxville.

In addition to her loving husband and her mother, she is survived by her daughters, Tina Bogo and partner, Mike Mueller, of Shannondale, W.Va.,; BillieJo Hoffman of Inwood, Tonya Racanelli and husband, Mark, of Shannondale, and Erika Hensley and husband, Brian, of Thorn Hill, Tenn. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brandi Ault and fianc? Brandon Lohman, Michael Ault, Joshua Patterson, Ashland Hensley and Amber Hensley; and great-granddaughter, Lailynn Lester and her father, Richie. She will be lovingly remembered by Annette Butler of Purcellville, Va., and Jason Johnson of Franklin, Ohio, whom she loved as her own children. Lois is also survived by her brother, Bill Claar and wife, Shirley, of Hollidaysburg, Pa., sister, Dorothy Eury and husband, John, of Brunswick, sister, Nancy Hawker and husband, Wayne Haupt, of Burkttsville, sister, Joy Williams of Brunswick, brother, Herman Claar and wife, Pat, of Stephenson, Va.; sister-in-law, Lori Claar of Osterburg, Pa.; sister-in-law, Lorna Roberts and husband, Vernon, of Glendale, Ariz.; brother-in-law, Jack Balty and wife, Sandy, of Tupelo, Miss.; sister-in-law, Sharon Bomgard and husband, Larry, of Prescott, Ariz.; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her father, Lois was preceded in death by a brother, David Claar; a brother-in-law, Wayne Hawker; and her stepfather, Leroy Chamberlin.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at Faith Baptist Church, 2212 Jefferson Pike, Knoxville. The Rev. Ed Jordan will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Eastern Panhandle and the American Lung Association.
