Charles Royce Timmons, 82, of Amarillo died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Mr. Timmons was born Oct. 16, 1930, in Russel, Okla., to Dora and Minnis Timmons. Shortly after graduating from high school, he joined the Navy. He served on the attack cargo ship USS Skagit (AKA 105).

He had lived in Hobbs, N.M.; Lockney and Mangum, Okla., before moving to Amarillo. He worked at a plumbing company in Amarillo before working at Bell Helicopter for more than 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lena Mae Timmons; a sister, June Short; and a brother, David Timmons.

Survivors include his children and stepchildren, Charles D. Timmons and wife Patty of Amarillo, Linda Timmons of Amarillo, Everett Lee Timmons and wife Kathy of Borger, Arelia Timmons of Amarillo, Larry Brundige and wife Dorotha of Amarillo, Debra Williams and husband Will of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Jerry Timmons and wife Linda of Norman, Okla.; two sisters, Glovetta Hightower of Ardmore, Okla., and Norma Lou Moon of Royse City; his former wife, Mary C. Timmons of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and good friend, Melody Phelps.
