Oneonta, Jan. 22 - The funeral of Maurice D. Gallup who died Friday from injuries received Thursday when he was thrown from a locomotive into the Susquehanna river near Sidney, was held yesterday afternoon at his late home, 1 Jefferson street. The Rev. Wilber C. Dodge of the Elm Park Methodist Episcopal church officiated. The body was placed in the vault the the Oneonta Plains cemetery for later burial. The pallbearers were: Francis Williams and Clarence Slade, representing the American Legion; George Davis and Charles Smithling of the B. L. F. & E.; G. W. Spencer and W. Ketchum of the L. O. O. M. The choir of the Elm Park church sang during the service.

There was a large attendance of relatives and friends at the funeral and noted among the large display of floral tributes were pieces from the Brotherhood class of the Elm Park church. Oneonta Post, Oneonta Post, 259, American Legion and the Loyal Order of Moose, Susquehanna Lodge 71, B. L. F. & E., of which Mr. Gallup was a member, was represented by a large delegation of members."
