News of sorrow reached the city Thursday when it was reported that Marie Paustian, of Brillion, so well known, in this city, had been called by the Reaper Death. It demonstrated again that the frail character of human life is at times indeed brief and uncertain. A young girl, with a kind, lovable and cheerful disposition has left us and the people of Mayville join with the people of Brillion in expression of sympathy for the bereaved parents and relatives.

Marie Paustian was born in this city on January 13th, 1903, and died at Brillion Thursday May 22nd, 1919 thus reaching an age of 16 years. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Paustian and went to Brillion with her parents about twelve years ago. She leaves her grief- stricken parents, two brothers, Oscar and Albert, her grandfather, F. Paustian of this city and many other relatives who now mourn her untimely departure.

After the funeral services were held Saturday at her home in Brillion, the body was taken to Mayville for interment in Graceland cemetery. Funeral services were held here from the home of the D. Naber family Sunday afternoon. At the house Miss Albertine Ruedebusch, violinist, played Haendel's Largo. Mrs. Herman Nitschke followed with a soprano solo, and a Quartette of the Damerchor sang a beautiful and fitting selection. H. Loewenfeld of Chicago and J. Balliette, Principal of the Brillion High School, of Brillion offered fitting tributes to the deceased.

At the cemetery O. Zander, editor of the Brillion News paid his last respects to the deceased and commented upon the high esteem with which the deceased was honored at her home. Thus amid the bright sunshine of an almost perfect day, after well rendered and fitting song selections by the mixed choir and the male choir, she was laid to rest at the side of her beloved brother, Hugo, who died June 18th 1918, less than a year ago, on beautiful Graceland.

Many friends in addition to the relatives attended the funeral and the many floral tributes showed the high esteem of Marie Paustian here and at Brillion. Miss Paustian had been a Junior in the High School at Brillion and some of her classmates, teachers and friends came down from Brillion to pay their last respects.

The pall bearers were Armin Martens, Louis Kurtz, Victor Janssen, Herbert Schumann, Carl Ruedebusch, Jr. and Hugo Prinz.

The auto load of beautiful floral pieces were carried by Marie's playmates from Brillion and Mayville and Girl Scouts of Brillion.

The mourning relatives have the sincere sympathy of all in their hour of grief.
