DROWNED IN PAINT RIVER
Herman Icks, Station Agent at Atkinson, is Dead
Sunday morning, Herman Icks, who for a number of years, started out duck hunting intending to remain but a short time. When he did not return at suppertime his friends became worried & early yesterday morning in a search party started out to look for him. His body was found in the Paint River near the C&NW bridge. It s supposed that the unfortunate man fell into the river & save unable to save himself on account of having but 1 arm. Mr. Icks has long been a trusted employee of the Northwester Railroad Co & his many friends along the line will deeply regret his untimely death. He leaves as wife who is nearly heartbroken on account of the dreadful calamity which has overtaken her.
The deceased formerly lived at Iron Mountain & Quinnesec & was a trainman on the Northwestern road. He will be buried tomorrow at Quinnesec under the auspices of the Maccabees Tent of that place. He was formerly a member of H.W. Carey Tent, No 737, of Iron Mountain. (November 1898 Iron Mountain Daily Tribune Newspaper.)
