Funeral services for George Madison Wooten, 92, of Natchez, who died December 9, 2012 at his residence, will be held 10 a.m. Thursday December 13, 2012 at Highland Baptist Church with Rev. David McGuffee officiating. Burial will follow at Lucien Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Highland Baptist Church.

Mr. Wooten was born January 4, 1920 in Lincoln county the son of Prentiss Perry Wooten and Ada Esteller Posey Wooten. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church and served as a deacon at Cliff Temple, Calvary and Highland Baptist Church's. Mr. Wooten enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends. He also enjoyed gardening and worked at Schlumberger for over 35 years. Mr. Wooten served for four years in the Army Air Corp and worked in the CCC for two years. He loved driving the big John Deere tractor to plant pine trees.

Mr. Wooten is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Ann Butler Wooten; three sisters, Margie Estelle W. Wilkerson and husband, Tildon, Thelma Rachel W. White and husband, Garland, and Mamie Dell W. Lyons; two brothers, James Vernon Wooten and wife, Lillian W. Linder, and Paul Perry Wooten.

Survivors include, four daughters, Wandra W. Dees and husband, T. Joe of Golden, MO, Gail W. Walker and husband, Donald of Magee, Carla W. Sanders and husband Anthony of Mendenhall, and Betty W. Brown and husband Bill of Natchez; one son, George Leslie Wooten and wife, Peggy W.of Natchez; one sister-in-law, Yvonne Wooten; one brother-in-law, Ben Lyons; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one on the way; a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Walker, Josh Walker, Clark Walker, Brook Sanders, Patrick Sanders, Daniel Brown, Michael Wooten and Craig Wooten.
