Mrs. Lucile Glass Grakowsky, 92, of Long Beach, died Jan. 27, 2006, at Windham House of Hattiesburg.

Mrs. Grakowsky had been a resident of Long Beach since 1963. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Jack Grakowsky, her brother, Wilber L. Glass, and her parents, John L. and Alice Shaw Glass. Mrs. Grakowsky graduated from Gulfport High School in 1931. In 1935 she graduated from MS State College for Women. She was a schoolteacher for four years and then went into administrative work with the USN Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport where she retired in Dec. 1978. She was involved in many of the First Baptist Church of Long Beach activities where she was a member. Mrs. Grakowsky moved to Hattiesburg in May 2000. She became an important part of the Windham House Family, as she was loved by friends, staff, and residents, as well as their loved ones. Survivors include a nephew, Wilbur Eugene(Jack) Glass, two cousins, Margaret Dubois Farris and Mattie Shaw Timmerman, two great-nephews and a niece. A funeral service will be held Tuesday January 31, 2006 at Riemann Funeral Home, Gulfport, MS, at 1 p.m., where friends may visit two hours prior to the funeral. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Gulfport MS.
