James Arthur & Emily were married August 24, 1899. James, 26, was a Cornish Iron Ore miner & the son Of John & Mary Ann (Oliver) Hooper. Emily was 20. W.C. Clemo, officiated the wedding in Iron Mountain, Dickinson, Michigan. Witnesses were William & Jennie Cowling, both of Iron Mountain.(Dickinson County Marriage Records 1878- 1891 as per license)



James Arthur Hooper, 69, resident of Iron Mountain for 53 years, died at 11 yesterday morning at home, 103 Merritt Avenue. He came to Iron Mountain when he was 16 & was employed in the iron ore mines until he retired.
He is survived by his widow, 5 sons: James, Norman, Richard, Robert & William; 4 daughters: Mrs. Arthur Crocker, Mrs. Maurice Trudell, Mrs. John Fontana & Mrs. Raymond Taylor; a sister, Mrs. Jacob Williams, Iron Mountain & 2 in England; 13 grandchildren.
