World War I veteran

Clinton Sheridan Pettit, 82, died March 18, 1971, at the Marion County VA Hospital. A native of Scott County, Kentucky, he was born March 1, 1888. Mr. Pettit moved to Indiana in 1913. He was a retired plumber with the Linger Co. He was a veteran of World War I, serving in the First Pioneer Inf. He was a member of the Gas City VFW Post. The son of the late Charles G. & Nancy Morgan Pettit, he is survived by his wife, Betty, daughter Atha Manley, Georgetown, Ky., two granddaughters, Maxine (Bobby) Vance, Georgetown, and Frieda (Murel) Wheatley, Louisville, Ky. two great-grandchildren, Billy Vance & Deborah Wheatley; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Babcock, & Mrs. Letha Stanbaugh, both of Toleda, Ohio, and Mrs. Lizzie Rogers, Georgetown, Ky., a brother, Sam Pettit, Kokomo. Burial in Riverside Cemetery with Military Rites.
