Ruth C. Curtis, 86, of Pinoak Drive, Oil City, died at 3:50 pm Saturday, April 15, 2000, at home. Born Dec. 16, 1913, in Cranberry, she was a daughter of J. Frank and Maude I. Porter Horner.
She graduated from Oil City High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania, then taught elementary school for many years at Salina and Pinoak schools. She was a member and elder of Second Presbyterian Church, Oil City, a member of Belles Lettres Club, Oil City, and the Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association.
On Aug. 2, 1941, she married Dr. Paul Curtis, who died June 19, 1961.
Surviving are a daughter, Dr. Sue Curtis Bebrich and son-in-law, Carl Bebrich, of Lockport, IL; a sister, Opal Atwell of Allison Park; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are two brothers, Ralph Horner and Edgar Horner; three sisters, Florence Johnstone, Naomi Morgan, and Ardell Bower.
Services will be at 11 am Wednesday at Morrison Funeral Home, Oil City, with Rev. William J. Mills, Supply pastor of her church, officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill memorial Gardens.
