Two Killed, One Badly Injured in Road Crash – J.W. Devine, Brunswick, and H.C. Phillips, Knoxville, Victims. Two persons were instantly killed and one was critically injuried when the automobile in which they were riding failed to negotiate a curve near Knoxville and crashed into a concrete bridge abutment about 1:30 o'clock Sunday morning. The driver of the machine, the fourth person in the single-seated automobile, was only slightly hurt.

The dead were: James William Devine, aged 27, Brunswick. Howard Calvin Phillips, aged 24, Knoxville. Identical injuries were responsible for the deaths of the two men. The injuries were: Fractured neck, crushed chest, internal injuries, and fractured right leg.

Devine is survived by his mother, Mrs. Sarah M. Devine, one brother, James Franklin, and two sisters, Mary Belle and Edith May.

The funeral was held from the home of his mother, with services in the Baptist church, Brunswick; interment was in Park Heights Cemetery, Brunswick; arrangements by C.H. Feete and Son, funeral directors.
