He was born in Elizabethtown on June 24, 1930, to J.C. and Elizabeth Ellen Ash Carden, the grandson of James Madison and Lilly Ann Dilley Carden and William P. and Olive Carroll Ash. He was a member of Southeast Christian Church, American Legion Post No. 220 and Plumbers Union Local No. 107. Also, he was a mason.
In addition to his daughter, Lisa, and his son-in-law, Dr. George C. Stege III, he leaves one son, Timothy Jay Carden (Sherry); a brother, Robert Lee (Carolyn) Carden; and a sister, Ann Carden Champion; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is at noon Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, formerly Foreman Funeral Home, 10600 Taylorsville Road, Jeffersontown. Burial follows in Cave Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
