STERLING Funeral for Earl "Claud" Byrd Sr., 76, Sterling, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Becker-Rabon Funeral Home of Fletcher Chapel with Donnie Miller, pastor, Family Life Church in Cyril, and Chaplain Jessie Forrest, Faith Hospice, officiating.

Mr. Byrd died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, in Sterling.

Burial will be in Sterling Cemetery under direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home of Fletcher.

He was born Jan. 23, 1936, in the Wichita Mountains to Dave Miller Sr. and Edna Fettke Byrd. He married Romelda Andrews on Dec. 21, 1956, in Lawton. Mr. Byrd retired from Cameron University on Jan. 2, 1997, after 25 years of service. After his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family and visiting with friends at Mansel's Service Station in Sterling.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, of the home; son, Earl Byrd Jr. and his wife Mary, Sterling; two daughters: Loretta King, Dumas, Texas, and Janice Williams and her husband Ted, Olustee; five grandchildren and their spouses: Jason Ferchaud, Robert Louiselle Jr., Stacey Hoff and her husband Kevin, Cody Williams and his wife Ashley, and Reno Williams; nine great-grandchildren: Lyric Ferchaud, Madison Steele, Savannah Steele, Kyler Tuinstra, Declan Louiselle, Rayleigh Louiselle, Tierney Louiselle, Gracie Lynn Williams and Sadie Rose Williams; a sister-in-law, Amydell Byrd, Royce City, Texas; a brother-in-law, Jim Nix, Lawton; and a grandson-in-law, Brandon Steele, Sterling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Dave Byrd Jr., LeRoy Byrd and Harvey Byrd; and three sisters: Polly Roof, Davilene Nix and Janice Byrd.
