RILEY Curtis Reginald "Rip" Riley, Sr. - age 83, loving husband, father, and grandfather, born in Laurel, MS, a native of Hattiesburg, MS, and a long-time resident of Saraland passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 17, 2013. Mr. Riley attended the University of Mississippi and graduated from the Samford (formerly Howard) University School of Pharmacy. He practiced pharmacy for over 50 years, first as owner of Shelton Beach Pharmacy and later for McConaghy Drugs. He was a member of Saraland United Methodist Church, a member and Past-President of the Lion's Club, and a long-time Mason and Shriner. Mr. Riley was also named Saraland's first Citizen of the Year in 1977-78. He will be remembered as a man of great character, integrity, and few but wise words. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Stapleton Riley, Sr. and Myrah Watkins Riley; sister, Norine Barnes; and brother, Louis Stapleton Riley, Jr. Mr. Riley is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Glenna S. Riley; children, Ellen Riley Sewell (Jack "B.J."), Curtis Reginald Riley, Jr. (Cindy), and Glenna "Gine" Riley; grandchildren, Jennifer Coyle (David), Jessica McArthur (James), and Christopher Sewell; great-grandchildren, Alexis Coyle and Camden McArthur; sister-in-law, Maxine Riley; nephews, Michael Riley Barnes and Louis Stapleton Riley, III; niece, Michelle Riley; and many friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Monday, January 21, 2013, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, January 20, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Orville Carter, Terry Hopper, Nathan Pope, David Boshell, Scott Passmore, and Don Finklea with Kenneth Napp serving as an honorary pallbearer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saraland United Methodist Church, 415 McKeough Ave, Saraland, AL 36571. Condolences may be offered at www.radneyfuneral home-saraland.com.
