His obituary appeared in the Acadian of Thursday 12 August 1943, page 1, and reads "Edward E. Wallace - The death of a well know Wolfville man, Edward E. Wallace, occurred suddenly on Sunday morning at the home of his sister, Mrs. A.M. Young, Main Street. When he returned recently from Florida, where during the last twenty-four years he had spent the winters, he was in impaired health. Since then he had lived so quietly that some of his older friends were not even aware of his return. On Sunday morning he arose as usual and later expired when sitting on the side of his bed. Mr. Wallace was born in Wolfville on September 6, 1868, a son of the late Thomas S. and Sarah Wallace. The old home was on what is now Pleasant Street. In his younger years he spent some time in the Canadian West and in California. He was an ardent Odd Fellow and was the oldest living member of Orpheus Lodge, No. 92, of this town. He was also a member of St. Eulalie Rebekah Lodge, Kentville. Besides his sister, Mrs. Young, he is survived by two nephews and four nieces. The funeral which was held on Tuesday afternoon from the Baptist church was conducted by the pastor, Rev. F.H. Eaton, D.D. Interment was in the family lot in Willow Bank Cemetery. The pall-bearers were Brighton Fielding, Dimock Vaughan, Horace Jackson and J.W. Williams."
