Adelaida "Lala" G. López, age 86, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side on October 4, 2005.
Adelaida was the daughter of Margarito Griego and Epifania Sanchez Griego.
Mrs. López is survived by her sons, Joseph "Sonny" López and his wife, Cecilia and Rudy Lee López, two daughters, Priscilla Gutiérrez and her husband, Danny and Mary Salazar and her husband, Manuel, 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mrs. López was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Genovevo in 1997, a daughter, Licha in 1939 and a son, Epimenio "Epie" M. López in 1992.
Mrs. López was a member of the Catholic Church.
In January 1995 in celebration of Lala and Genovevo's 60th anniversary, the county officially dedicated the cross street where the López's lived their entire marriage, Lala-Gene Lane. Lala was a homemaker who loved crocheting blankets and doll dresses and deeply loved her family which was evident as she helped raise many of her grandchildren. A visitation for Lala will be on Thursday afternoon in the Gabaldón Memorial Chapel from 2:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. A visitation will be after 6:30 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A final visitation will be on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Mass of the Resurrection to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the San José de Armijo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Epie López Jr., Danny Gutiérrez Jr., Dion Gutiérrez, Dominic Gutiérrez, Mark López and Robert López. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Gutiérrez, Manuel Salazar, Darell Wade, Darren López, Joseph López Jr., Paul Gonzáles, Joseph Candelaria, Pat Frias, Matt Montez, Matthew Kent and Jarrod Vallejos.
