She was the daughter of Thomas N May [1865-1918 and Fannie Thornton [1879-1972]. Wife of Martin Drue Ivey who is buried in the Pickton Cemetery in Hopkins County. Married 23 December 1929 in Pickton, Hopkins County, Texas according to County Marriage records. She was a well-known and beloved public school teacher in the Pickton Schools for many years having taught two or three generations in a family and taught a brief time in the Beaumont, Texas school system before her retirement in that city. She received her Master of Science degree in ca 1940 from East Texas State Teacher's College in Commerce. The title of her theses was "Operation of the Agricultural Adjustment Act in Hopkins County, Texas, 1933-1939, 150 Pages.
