Nona Payton Stonar, 104, passed through death and into God's gracious eternity on Friday, January 18, 2013, at a nursing facility in Red Oak. Graveside service and interment will be 2 p.m., Sunday, January 20, 2013, at the Waxahachie City Cemetery with Mr. Walter Buchanan officiating.

Nona was born in Venus, Texas, to the late Ross Elexander Payton and Emily Cothran Payton, one of twelve children (5 boys and seven girls). She enjoyed creating wonderful meals and a loving home for her family. Nona loved working in the yard with her flowers, doing crossword puzzles, and reading the Bible. She lived a long and happy life and was a consistent Christian example to everyone with whom she came in contact. She never complained and her positive attitude was an encouragement to people around her. Nona was a wonderful mother who left a heritage of faith to her family. She has been a member of the College Street (now Brown Street) Church of Christ since 1941.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Loyd "Pinkie" Raynal Stonar in 1986; her brothers; and sister, Birdie B. Payton Tucker, and the rest of her sisters.

Nona is survived by her daughter, Susanne Craig; granddaughter, Meredith Clanton; great-grandson, Reed Clanton; niece, Juanita Hallabough; and numerous other nieces and nephews. K11
