Kathryn Smith Berry, 54, of Sheffield, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, in Panama City Beach, Fla., after a brief illness. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Morrison Funeral Home of Tuscumbia, with Brother Ted Vafeas officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Kathie chose to be cremated; there will be no burial. A marker will be placed in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield, next to her father's, in memory of Kathie's life of love and service.
She was a member of York Terrace Baptist Church and was a Registered Nurse, most recently working at Bay Medical Center. She was a caring person who loved being a mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and nurse. Kathie was preceded in death by her father, Hurley Smith; and ex-husband and father of her daughters, Theron Berry.
Survivors include her daughters, Rebeca Berry and Rachel Berry; mother, Mavis Smith; sister, Debbie Smith, all of Sheffield; sister, Jackie Kimberling (Alan), of Fort Worth, Texas; niece, Alison Kimberling, of Houston, Texas; aunt, Lucille Ricketts, of Florence; and several cousins and their families, including a special cousin, Sandra Barnett (David). She also leaves a special friend, Nancy Schulte (David) of Panama City Beach.
