Karen Elisabeth Huff ("Kay" to all who knew and loved her) passed away peacefully at her residence in Santa Clara, CA on New Year's Day, 2013. Born on August 12, 1942, in Oklahoma City, Kay's commitment to social justice and civil rights led her to join in the Freedom Rides of 1961 -- where, under her maiden name of "Kytle," she became the first female from the state of Oklahoma to experience arrest and incarceration for such participation in Jackson, Mississippi, on 6-16-61. Kay's ongoing concern for social justice led her to earning a law degree from the OU School of Law. She was elected the first female prosecuting attorney in Cleveland County, Oklahoma. She was a successful prosecutor but did not run for re-election, deciding instead to move to California, where she became an Assistant District Attorney in Santa Rosa, California, and worked as an advocate for women and children victims of abuse. Kay will be buried at a private ceremony on January 19, 2013, at Valley Home Memorial Park, Oakdale, CA.
