Duncan W. Pierce, 57, of Michael Avenue in Charlestown, was born to Arthur and Walthrude (Jordan) Pierce.

Duncan attended North Bennington Grammar School and North Bennington High School in North Bennington, Vt. He attended Castleton State College. He had a varied work history, holding various positions in the banking and legal fields for more than 20 years. In the last 15 years, Mr. Pierce practiced as a private investigator, holding licenses in the states of Virginia, Florida and New Hampshire. He worked on various cases along the eastern seacoast. He was a member of the Private Investigators Association of New Hampshire. Mr. Pierce was a past member of the Claremont Lions and Elks Clubs. While in Bennington, Vt., he was a member of Ducks Unlimited and was a volunteer fireman. He also belonged to the North Bennington Baptist Church. He enjoyed fly-fishing; fly-tying, photography, cross-country skiing and he had a real flair for finish woodworking. One of his favorite things was to make a handmade wooden fly fishing rod for a friend or family member.

On Sept. 20, 1997, he married Jacqueline Ferguson in Barnstable, Mass. They shared 17 years together living in Claremont; Fredericksburg, Va; and Charlestown.

Mr. Pierce was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Darryl Pierce. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Jackie, include his son, Darian Pierce, Springfield, Miss.; his brother, Brian Pierce and his wife Beverly, of West Rutland, Vt.; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
