Booth Davis, 91, of Hobbs died June 20, 2004, at Hobbs Health Care. He was born January 9, 1913, in Bengal, Oklahoma.

Memorial services were held at 2pm, Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at Chapel Of Hope Funeral Home, with Dr. Dean Mathis of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church officiating.

The funeral home directed the services.

Mr. Davis married Rebekah (Becky) Ayers on June 3, 1939.

He worked for many years for the Gulf Oil Company in the Hobbs area. He also worked in Seminole, Oklahoma and in Midland, Texas. He retired from Gulf in 1976.

Booth had found his favorite pastime of square dancing in the late 1940s. He began teaching and calling square dancing in the early 1950s. The New Mexico Square Dance Association had inducted Booth and Becky into the "New Mexico Hall of Fame" in recognition and appreciation of the outstanding contribution and achievement of Square and Round Dancing.on May 30, 1987. Booth remained involved through the mid 1990s.

He was a Mason.

He is survived by his wife of Hobbs; a son, David Davis of Hobbs; two sisters, Joann Curry of Mobile, Alabama, and Lucille Olive of Poteau, Oklahoma, a brother-in-law, Al Ayers of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma,sister-in-law,Nell Ayers of San Angelo, sister-in-law,Lou Ayers of Norman, Ok, and many nieces and nephews.
