Former Arapahoe resident, 89
MESA, Ariz. - Henry George Helms, 89, of Mesa, formerly of Loveland, Colo., and Arapahoe, Neb., died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Crismon Peaks Assisted Living in Mesa.
Celebration of life memorial services will be Saturday at Christ Greenfield Lutheran Church in Gilbert. Burial of cremains will be in June at Arapahoe Cemetery.
He was born Oct. 29, 1923, on the family farm northeast of Arapahoe to Henry C. and Bertha (Hinz) Helms.
On Dec. 22, 1946, he married Lillian Stillman. She died in 1971.
In 1977, he married Doris Schmidt.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Dale and Kim, both of Holbrook, Ron of Aztec, N.M., Brent of Greeley, Colo., Clayton Schmidt of Driggs, Idaho, and Warren Schmidt of Loveland; daughters, Linda Twidwell of Flagstaff, Ariz., Jeanette Mares of Elkton, Fla., Rhonda Ems of Mesa and Mary Belisle of Tempe, Ariz.; brothers, Edwin and Clarence, both of Arapahoe; sisters, Ruth McGhghy of Greeley, Colo., and Lucilla Carr of Elkhorn, Neb.; 38 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren..
