Tue., Sept. 4 (5-3): Col. E. A. Jones, attorney, died at his residence at 1601 Columbus yesterday. Born Somerset Co., Maryland, 1836. His father was Capt. Alexander Jones, Maryland farmer and soldier in the War of 1812. His mother
was Elizabeth Cary of Maryland. He leaves two brothers: Dr. Daniel W. Jones and W. Edgar Jones of Somerset County, Mary and; and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Long, 86, and Miss Matilda Jones, 84, in Princess Ann, Md. Another brother, Dr. Denwood Jones, a surgeon in the Crimean War, died many years ago. He was twice married, first to Miss Lucy F. Markham at Vicksburg, Miss., in 1861, and died at Waco Oct. 1884. In 1889 he married a second time,
to Mrs. Lizzie Lotta at Waco, who survives. By the first marriage he had four children: Mrs. R. G. Patton, Misses Susie and Mattie, and Geo. W. Jones. By the second marriage, one child, Edgar A. Jones. Graduated from Jefferson College, Pennsylvania in 1858. January 1862, joined the 28th Miss. Cavalry. To Texas and to Waco, 1870, and joined the law firm of Norris, Sleeper and Jones.
Wed., Sept. 5 (5-4): Funeral of Col. E. A. Jones was yesterday from St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Rev. Dr. Rogers and Dr. King officiating. Burial at Oakwood cemetery.
