Ellen Mariam Hart, 102, of Poplar Grove, died peacefully in her home Thursday, January 17, 2013. Born August 12, 1910 in Spring Township; daughter of Blaine and Anna (Johnson) Blake. Married Claron A. Hart on March 3, 1945 in Belvidere; he died September 5, 1990. Ellen was a farmer's wife and made wedding cakes. She was a 4-H leader and as member of Oak Glenn Grange she made pancakes for the Boone County Fair breakfast for 25 years, member of the Rebekah Lodge, Boone County Homemakers for over 50 years, and made quilts with the Spring Mission. The family would like to extend a special thank you Ellen's caregiver, Theresa Haywood, for her loving and compassionate care.
Survived by her daughters JoAnn (Tom) Cleland of Roscoe, Karen (David) Anderson of Poplar Grove; grandchildren Craig and Daniel (Allison) Cleland, Jennifer (Andrew) Lindstrom, Julie (Robert) Johnson; great-grandchildren Emma Cleland, Zachery and JJ Lindstrom; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, husband, son Claron, Jr., brother Frank Blake, sisters Edna V. Blake and Gladys Bender.
