Lois Lucas Long, 87, longtime Texas County resident passed away Saturday afternoon, Jan 9, 1999 at Prairie Village, Kan. where she had been living for the past year.

Sadie Lois Grimm was born on Oct. 22, 1911 in Plainview, Tex. to Sadie Rebecca (Wesley) and William Harvey Grimm. She lived in Guymon until marrying Stephen Lucas on Sept. 24, 1934 in Guymon. The Lucas Family made their home in Scott City, Kan. until the death of Mr. Lucas on Nov. 1, 1940.

Mrs. Lucas moved her young family back to Guymon and later married George Long of Optima on May 14, 1947. They resided in Guymon and Tyrone until they could build their home on the farm near Optima. Mr. Long died June 9, 1982. Mrs. Long was a homemaker and longtime member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Guymon, where she was active in the St. Monica Circle, the Alter Society and the N. C. C. W. She was also active in PTA and was a 4-H leader for many years.

Survivors include two daughters - Sally and husband, Bill Angel of St. Mary's, Ohio and Fran and husband, David Larsen of Woodbridge, Virg.; daughter-in-law, Gail and husband Dan Mendell of South Bend, Ind.; 3 sons, Stephen Lucas and wife, Sandi of Baton Rouge, La; George M. Long and wife Rosalind of Westwood, Kan. and Jim Long and wife, Charlene of Fullerton, Calif.; a brother, Wendell Grimm of Oklahoma City Okla.; 19 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and many other close relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, a son Patrick A. Lucas and a grandson, Daniel J. Schwartz.

Rosary services will be Thursday evening, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Henson-Novak Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be conducted Friday morning, Jan 15 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Father Phillip Lindley and Father Scott Adams, officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery under the direction of Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon.
