Paul F. Beard, age 96, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013, at Metropolitan Hospital in Wyoming, Michigan, after a brief illness. Prior to his death, he was a resident at Oakcrest Willowood Manor in Jenison, Michigan. He previously resided for many years on his farm near Edmore.
He was born August 13, 1916, to Floyd and Ivah (Foley) Beard in Crystal Twp., Michigan. He married Lucille F. (Hunt) on September 18, 1938. Lucille preceded him in death on September 21, 2004.
Paul attended Michigan State College in East Lansing. During the war, he was assigned as a civilian engineer doing aircraft design work related to war projects. He later worked as a design engineer in the automotive industry and retired from Lobdell-Emery in 1982.
Paul enjoyed travel, rock collecting and photography. He was a member of the Ferris Church of Christ in Vestaburg for many years.
Paul is survived by his three sons and one daughter and their families. He also leaves behind two brothers and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Irene and Ruth and brothers Loyal Sr., Gerald, Theo, and Otto.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, January 19, 2013, at the Ferris Church of Christ, Vestaburg, Michigan. Pastor Tony Crane officiated. Graveside services followed in Ferris Township Cemetery, Vestaburg. Memorial contributions in Paul's name may be made to the Ferris Church of Christ.
