Victor Rolland Asmus, 88, of Perrysburg, died peacefully at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on January 15, 2013. He was born November 17, 1924, to Charles F. and Anna (Grimm) Asmus on Pargillis Road, Middleton Township, where he lived and farmed for 74 years. In 1998, after retirement, he moved to Waterville into a house that he had designed himself. He graduated in 1942 from Haskins High School. He married Lois Grolle on August 30, 1947, at Christ Lutheran Church, Dowling, OH. She died in June 2010. Vic was a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Haskins, OH, where he was co-chair of the building committee for the new church built on State Route 582. He also served many years on church council and played on the dartball team. He was a Pfister seed corn dealer for 21 years. Vic was also a member of several card clubs, the Waterville Men's and Ma and Pa bowling leagues, Maumee Elks, and the Clodcrushers Farm Bureau Council for over 50 years. He also served on the consolidation committee which formed the current Otsego School District. He loved to travel, golf, dance and attend sporting events in his spare time. He and his wife traveled extensively throughout their married life visiting the Caribbean Islands many times and traveling to Alaska, the Scandinavian countries, Nova Scotia and many U.S. destinations. In their later years, they spent winters in Palm Springs, California. Preceding him in death in addition to his wife, and parents; were his daughter, Kathy Dauster, and brothers, Harold, Ralph, and Clifford Asmus. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Tom) Alfieri of Perrysburg; son, Randy (Peg) Asmus of Okemos, MI; son-in-law, Greg Dauster of Newark, OH; grandchildren, Stacey (Josh) Bergstrom, Steven Dauster, Erica (Todd) Westenbroek, Meredith (Seth) Adams, Leigh Asmus, Mitch Asmus, and a great-grandson, Tate and two more on the way. Friends may call at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, 7220 Dutch Road, Waterville, on Friday, January 18, 2013, from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, State Route 582, Haskins, OH on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior to service. Interment will be at Wakeman Cemetery in Waterville. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hospice of Northwest Ohio or a charity of the donor's choice.
