POTTSBORO – Vivian H. Dennis passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 at Texoma Health Care.

Vivian was born March 7, 1919 to Thomas James Halkins and Ola Bartlett Halkins in Aylesworth, Okla. She married Carl Dennis in December 1938 in Hugo, Okla.

Vivian, Carl and Gayle moved to Denison, Texas in 1961. Vivian worked for Diaper Jeans in Denison 15 years and worked another 15 years in home health, retiring in 2001.

Vivian enjoyed dancing, gardening, bargain shopping and get togethers with family and friends. In her later years, she enjoyed her special times with daughter Gayle, having finger nail parties. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Denison, Texas.

After Carl passed away in 1980, Vivian eventually met Arbie Clark, who became a special friend and companion until his passing in 2007. Vivian was president at Texoma Health Care for almost six years, where she was a member of the Red Hat Society, enjoyed social events and playing bingo.

Vivian is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Marie Burgett, Verna Theemling, Irene Rice; brother T. J. Halkins, as well as husband Carl and special friend Arbie.

She is survived by daughter, Gayle Nixon and husband David; sister, Geneva Winfrey; step-granddaughter, Hillary Nixon; step-greatgranddaughter, Camden Nixon; step-grandson, Daniel Nixon and family, along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Family visitation will be at Bratcher Funeral Home in Denison from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 17, 2014 at Springs Chapel Cemetery in Hugo, Okla.

The family would like to thank the staff at Texoma Health Care and Grayson County Home Hospice for their dedication in caring for Vivian.
