Mr. Morris L. Baker


Mr. Morris L. Baker, 66, of Thurmont, passed away at his home on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010. He and his beloved wife, Nancy Glass Baker, would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on Oct. 30, 2010.

Born on Jan. 28, 1944, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Morris Franklin and Helen Getz Baker. He lived his entire life in Thurmont.

Mr. Baker was an exceptional master painter for more than 30 years. He was forced to retire due to health reasons.

He also excelled in the maintenance and repair of antique clocks.

He enjoyed spending valuable time with his family, collecting antique clocks and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The enduring pride he displayed in caring for his home and other possessions can not be paralleled.

Surviving besides his wife are a son, Brian and wife, Jenn, of Union Bridge; grandchildren, Ryan, Tanner and Kirsten; sister, Agnes Stitely and husband, Norman "Bub," of Thurmont; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Betty Ann Mumma of Rocky Ridge; Bill and Mary Glass, Jim and Doris Glass, Velma Stambaugh, Dennis and Pat McGlaughlin, Larry and Sue Glass, all of Emmitsburg; Leroy and Carolyn Coshun of Keymar, Gary and Wanda Glass of Thurmont; Mike and Barbara Glass of Biglerville, Pa. He also leaves many nieces and nephews as well as a host of wonderful, very special friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Tom's Creek United Methodist Church, located at Tom's Creek Church and Simmons Road, Emmitsburg. Mr. Larry Eby will officiate. A reception, celebrating Mr. Baker's life, will immediately follow the service in the adjoining activities building.

Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family.
