Daniel Paul Goodwin 67, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away January 14, 2013 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Daniel was born June 13, 1945 in Gassaway, W.Va., a son of Wilbert Bartlett and Helen Lucille Bennett Goodwin.

He was a member of the Vienna Fire Department since 1971 serving as Fire Chief since 1990. Past president of the WV State Firemen's Association, member of International Association Of Fire Chief's, Certified Fire/Explosion Investigator, National Association of Fire Investigators, past president of Vienna Volunteer Fire Department, started Vienna Volunteer Fire Department Juniors in 1976 with Jim Thorn, Wood County Firefighters Association and Wood County Fire Investigation Team (Founding Member). Danny worked for the Railroad and retired as a CSX employee (20 years). He was also a former Chapter President of the Brotherhood of Railroad and Airline Clerks. He was a member of Vienna Masonic Lodge, 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, member of Nemesis Shrine and a member of Shrine Motorized Unit. Danny was an Airborne Ranger serving as a Sergeant in the 82nd and 101st Airborne Division serving two tours of duty in Vietnam, and Danny was also a Medic in the National Guard. He was a former baseball coach and umpire for the Vienna Recreation.

Danny is survived by three sons, Wilbert Lee Goodwin (Alice) of Vienna; Mark Daniel Goodwin (Tekla) of Maineville, Ohio and Matthew Scott Goodwin of Cincinnati, Ohio; one daughter, Amy Lucille Stoltz (Chris) of Mason, Ohio. Grandchildren, Mitchell Goodwin, Lorelai Goodwin, Kiley Goodwin, Michael Stoltz, Andrew Stoltz and William Stoltz. One brother, Larry Goodwin; and one sister, Cookie Boggs.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Sandra Mae Swecker Goodwin his wife of 35 years.

Services will be held Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at Wayside United Methodist Church, Gymnasium, 3001 Grand Central Ave., Vienna., with Reverend Dr. Patrick Kerr officiating, burial will follow at 2:30 P.M. at the The Orlando Cemetery near Weston, W.Va. Visitation will be Friday, January 18, 2013 at Wayside United Methodist Church, Gymnasium from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 6:00-8:00 P.M.
