Nancy A. Abbott, of Henderson, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, June 2, 1928, and was a long-time resident of the Las Vegas area for 59 years. Raised near Detroit, she graduated from Highland Park High School. After working as a secretary for General Motors, she married Gerald (Jerry) C. Abbott, and they began their married life with Nellis Air Force Base as their home.

In 1965, they opened the business Abbott Trophies, Inc., specializing in awards, trophies and plaques. After 24 years of ownership, they sold the business and Nancy went to work for the Clark County School District as an instructional assistant within the Title 1 program. She was a 50-year member of Eastern Star, Park Chapter #26, and Daughters of the Nile.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Harriet Steele; sister, Mary Palmer; and loving husband, Jerry Abbott. She is survived by her son, Gary (Debbie) Abbott; and daughter, Karen (Eddie) Phillips; her five grandchildren, Krystal Bladecki, Erik (Rikki) Phillips, Suzanne (Jeff) Corbett, Tiffany (Will) Kahler, and Steven Abbott; her eight great-grandchildren, Carson, Madison and Allison Phillips, Wyatt and Delaney Corbett, and Kennedy and Levi Kahler; and her niece, Patti (and daughter, Courtney) Bradbury. Visitation will be 1-2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, with services following, both at Palm Mortuary-Downtown, 1325 N. Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy Abbott's name to Nathan Adelson Hospice Foundation or the Lou Revo Clinic.
