Harvey Leo James, 79, a resident of the Oregon City community died Sunday morning, January 13, 2013 at the Willamette Falls Medical Center in Oregon City.

Harvey was born on August 13, 1933 in Curry Co, Oregon. He was one of two children born to Clyde and Vera LeClair James. He was raised in Gold Beach and graduated from Gold Beach High School.


He met his future wife, Betty Clauson, while in high school. They were married on August 9, 1951 in Gold Beach, OR. Following their marriage they made their home in Gold Beach until 1964 when they moved to Forest grove. In 1968 they moved to Oregon City were they have lived since.

Harvey was a long haul trucker during the first part of his working career. He retired as a manager for Flemming Foods, a grocery distributor, in Oregon City in 1995.


He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. He was also an avid gardener, family man and enjoyed watching old westerns. He was a very patient and loving man who will be missed by many.


He is preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law; Skip Campbell


Survivors include his loving wife; Betty, four children and their spouses; Laura Campbell of Dilley, OR, Harvey Jr. and Karen James of Corvallis, OR, Jeff and Elaina James of Gladstone, OR, Melody Jennings of Oregon City, OR, two siblings; Dan Reinert of Gold Beach, Jean Barton of Gold Beach, OR, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren .
